Emperador Hotel Madrid

Among hotels in Madrid, the Emperador stands alone as a destination rich in legend and tradition. Since welcoming its first guests in the mid-twentieth century, this luxury hotel has borne witness to many of the most important events in the history of Spain, including the coronation of Kings Felipe VI and Letizia in 2014.

With a prime location on Gran Vía, known as Jose Antonio Avenue until
1980 and one of the most important streets in Madrid, the hotel is a true architectural landmark with inspiring skyline views. It was designed and built in 1947 by brothers Julián y Joaquín Otamend, the architects of famous Madrid buildings such as the Palacio de Comunicaciones in Cibeles and the building España in Plaza de España.

Throughout its reign as one of the finest four-star hotels in Madrid, the Emperador has been closely linked to celebrities, royalty and political luminaries. In addition to staging some of Madrid’s most exclusive events and film shoots, the hotel has hosted icons ranging from Sofía Loren, Ernest Hemingway and Ava Gardner to Spain’s World Cup champion football team in 2010.
