A hotel with 70 years of history
A privileged witness
Hotel Emperador is a hotel with a lot of history which has witnessed many legendary events. During the second half of the 20th century, it received its first guests and, subsequently, was witness to different important events of Spanish history, including the coronation of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia in 2014.

Emblematic building
The hotel is a true architectural landmark with excellent views of the city. It was designed and built in 1947 by the Otamendi brothers, Julián and Joaquín, architects who were also responsible for other emblematic buildings in Madrid such as the Communications Palace in Cibeles and the España Building.

Emperador, a celebrity amongst the stars
The hotel received its first guests in 1948 as one of the best five-star hotels of its time. It offered one of the few rooftop pools open in the city and a solarium, thus inheriting the title of having the largest one of its kind in Madrid. Thanks to its location, in the middle of the city’s main theatre area, the hotel has always had a strong link to celebrities from the world of politics, art, culture and society in general, being the stage of some of Madrid’s most important movie and TV events and hosting guests such as Sophia Loren, Ernest Hemingway and Ava Gardner among others.
